The "Photonic Energy-Based Energy Efficiency Ecosystem Construction MOU" was signed to fulfill national carbon neutrality in the energy sector and contribute to the promotion of green growth.

On August 23, KIEL Institute (President Cho Hyun-hoon), Korea Dongseo Power Generation (President Kim Young-moon), and the Korea Housing Energy Diagnosis Association (President Choi Young-sun) signed the "Business Agreement for Establishing an Ecosystem for Energy Efficiency Based on Photonic Energy" in the boardroom of Dongseo Power Generation in Jung-gu, Ulsan.

This business agreement aims to achieve national carbon neutrality in the energy sector and contribute to the goals of promoting green growth through mutual cooperation between the contracting institutions.

Key collaboration contents include:

  • Establishing an innovative ecosystem for energy efficiency using photonic-energy convergence technology
  • Joint cooperation in creating green buildings, such as zero-energy buildings and green remodeling
  • Verification of greenhouse gas emission reduction effects through energy demand management and efficiency improvement
  • Exchange of personnel and technology through building energy diagnosis, efficiency certification education, and consultation
  • Joint pursuit of energy efficiency improvement and welfare social contribution projects

KIEL Institute is responsible for photonic-energy efficiency certification, evaluation, and technical support. Dongseo Power Generation focuses on practical demonstration and discovery of energy efficiency improvement solutions using photonic energy. The Korea Housing Energy Diagnosis Association is in charge of building energy diagnosis and on-site consulting.

Currently, KIEL Institute is actively performing various tasks, including research and development, testing, certification, and standardization in the green energy field to enhance the government's policies for carbon neutrality and demand efficiency. It is also making efforts to achieve energy demand efficiency at its Green Energy Division and respond to the national carbon neutrality goal in building energy and various energy fields.

Dongseo Power Generation is at the forefront of achieving national carbon neutrality by developing energy solution business models for energy-consuming industries, universities, and more. They aim to expand their business areas to achieve an annual reduction of 45 GWh of electricity demand by 2027, targeting small and medium-sized enterprises, cooperative housing, small-scale commercial buildings, etc.

The Korea Housing Energy Diagnosis Association is working on energy diagnosis for old buildings and facilities, energy efficiency, and energy welfare. They contribute to the national-level climate change response and support health and welfare services for vulnerable groups, such as economically disadvantaged seniors, while providing employment opportunities.

President Cho Hyun-hoon of KIEL Institute stated, "To achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, we will play an exemplary role as a public institution. Through collaboration with Dongseo Power Generation and the Korea Housing Energy Diagnosis Association, we will reduce carbon emissions in the energy sector, create a photonic energy-based energy efficiency ecosystem, and lead the way to carbon neutrality in collaboration with the people.
