Green Energy Research and Development

Kiel Research Institute conducts research on quality management and performance improvement of various building materials based on KS tests for insulation, condensation, air tightness, water tightness, and wind pressure at the Green Building Technology Center.

  • Evaluation of the Physical and Optical Performance of Building Materials and Window Sets
  • Evaluation of the Properties and Insulation Performance of Organic and Inorganic Insulation Materials
  • Evaluation of Window and Door Thermal Transmittance, Air tightness/Water tightness/Air Pressure Resistance, and Condensation Prevention Performance.

Test Facilities

  • <Thermal Transmittance Test Equipment>
    • Test Items

Thermal Insulation Performance (Thermal Transmittance), Dew Condensation Performance (Temperature Reduction Rate)

    • Test Subject

Window Set, Glass, Door (Fire Door, Revolving Door)

    • Test Standards

Thermal resistance (Thermal Transmittance) - KS F 2277/2278, Dew Condensation - KS F 2295/ Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport Notice No. 2016-835

    • Test Conditions

      • ① Insulation Test - Constant Temperature Room (20℃), Low-Temperature Room (0℃)
      • ② Condensation Test - Constant Temperature Room (25℃), Low-Temperature Room (Region 1 -20℃ / Region 2 -15℃ / Region 3 -10℃)

    • Test Standards

Air tightness Performance - KS F 2292, Water tightness Performance - KS F 2293, Internal Wind Pressure Resistance Performance - KS F 2296

    • Test Method

      • ① Air tightness Performance Test: Pressurize and depressurize at 10 Pa, 30 Pa, 50 Pa, and 100 Pa to measure the airflow.
      • ② Water tightness Performance Test: Apply uniform pressure, flood the front of the specimen with 4 liters/m² of water for 10 minutes, and visually confirm the extent of water overflow.
      • ③ Internal Wind Pressure Resistance Performance Test: Apply positive and negative pressure to the specimen at 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% of the target pressure, each for 10 seconds, and measure the displacement with the installed displacement gauge.
    • Sample Specifications

      • Testing for window products of standard size according to KS test standards:
      • ① Window Set - W2,000mm X H2,000mm / W1,500mm X H1,500mm
